Merseyside Independent Business Woman: An interview with Caroline Hill07/03/18
Owner, Caz’s Kitchen
Where is your business and what does it do?
Caz’s Kitchen ~ Cake shop
What makes you a leader?/What does it mean to you to be a female leader?/Your journey?
I have always had a clear vision of what I wanted my business to be like, and how I wanted it to sit within my community, this was a very individualistic thing encompassing strong personal ethics, when you stay true to yourself and innovate rather than imitate that’s where the power comes from – the authenticity. I’ve also learnt that showing vulnerability can be a strength not a weakness. Honesty and integrity are key.
What’s your favourite thing about going to work each day?
Running my own business has always been my dream, the hospitality industry is my love and looking after people and spreading some foodie joy my passion. So seeing our beautiful customers leave our shop with a smile on their face and a cake in a box is the simplest of pleasures and my favourite thing about my working day.
Your best piece of advice for women in independent business?
Be a work in progress and be humble, be open to new ideas and ways of doing things. Living is learning and the more you learn and develop the more you grow – every day is a school day and I’m constantly striving to be a better person and better in business.
